What We Aim For
Sola Singles is built so that everyone who belongs here can use it: with a screen reader, with the keyboard alone, with larger text, with less movement on the screen, or with a phone's own accessibility settings. We hold every page of the site, the members' pages and our staff's alike, to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2 at level AA, and to level AAA where we can: body text at seven to one against its background, and buttons large enough to press with a thumb.
What the Site Does
Every page can be used with the keyboard alone, and the place you are on is always marked. Every button, picture and box is named for a screen reader. Text holds at twice its size. Nothing on the site is carried by color alone, nothing hurries you on a timer, and nothing flashes. Every color is measured in light mode and in dark mode.
An automatic accessibility check reads every page of the site each time we change it, and a change that breaks the standard is not released.
Settings That Change It for You
Members have a section of their own in Settings, called Accessibility. It holds Text Size, Reduce Motion, Higher Contrast, Underline Links, and an easier-to-read font for dyslexia. Each starts from your device's own setting where your device has one, and the choice you make there overrides it.
Before you sign in, the site follows your device: if your device asks for less motion, the faces on our home page stand still.
The Phone App
The Sola Singles app follows your phone's text size and its accessibility settings.
Where It Is Harder
The identity check every member passes is our verification vendor's own screen, and we cannot change it. If you cannot finish it, write to us and a person will help.
The Members page draws members on a map of the world; its list holds the same members, and a screen reader is best served by the list.
Each game says, beside it, what a screen reader reaches there and what it misses.
Tell Us of a Barrier
If anything on Sola Singles is hard for you to use, please tell us. Choose Accessibility on our Contact Us page, or write to support@solasingles.com. A person reads every message.
